Protein has been stealing the spotlight in the wellness world lately, and for good reason. It’s an essential nutrient for a healthy, strong and thriving body. However, we think it’s time to give another vital nutrient the attention it deserves - fibre.
Recent studies have found that over 90% of the UK population don’t eat enough fibre. The recommended daily intake of fibre is 30g a day, yet so many of us are falling short. Getting enough fibre is vital for our health, reducing our risk of cancer, heart disease and other metabolic issues. It also plays a crucial role in supporting our gut bacteria, which influence everything from energy levels and skin health to mood and mental wellbeing.
The best way to increase fibre intake is to ensure that you eat it throughout the day, in every meal and snack. Sadly, so many of the super-processed ‘foods’ sold to us in the supermarkets lack fibre (and many other key nutrients!). Even those ‘healthy’ protein bars often contain a negligible amount. Further, many super-processed foods have been found to damage the good bacteria in your gut and/or increase the ‘bad’ bacteria!
Foods that are high in fibre include fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. Eating a variety of these helps support a healthy gut microbiome, as beneficial bacteria thrive on different types of fibre. Our treats are packed with lots of different ingredients that are high in fibre and other nutrients - they are a delicious balance of fruits, nuts and seeds.
Whilst all our products contain lots of fibre, here are our top 3 performers:
- Peanut Pie Bar (9.3g of fibre per 100g)
- Black Forest Brownie (9.1g of fibre per 100g)
- Raspberry + Almond Bliss Balls (8.5g of fibre per 100g)
Choosing to have a Sweet & Wild snack, means choosing to give your body a well-rounded treat - pure goodness in every bite!
